Engel Adamse, 95, of Viera, FL, passed away on Tuesday, July 9th surrounded by members of his family following a heroic battle with cancer. Engel was born on September 27, 1917 in the Netherlands to parents of Dutch descent.
He was a survivor of WWII and served in the Dutch resistance movement where he facilitated the escape of many downed allied airmen. Engels' knowledge of German, French and English was an invaluable asset during the war. After moving to Sweden, he and his wife Maria and their children, emigrated to the United States in 1954, where he created a successful flower growing and importing business. He and his wife then retired to Boca Raton.
Engel is survived by his daughters, Maria Van Name, Marina Hornasek, Yvonne Isselbaecher and Camilla Picone; sons, Frank Adamse and Michael Adamse; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Engel is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Lefeber Adamse
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00PM, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home Chapel in Viera, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
