Eugene F. McCallan
Eugene F. McCallan, 95, of Melbourne, died peacefully on Monday March 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving wife Jane and seven children, Christopher, Steven, Robert, Peter, David, Susan and Timothy.
Born in 1918 in NYC to Cecilia and Bernard McCallan, Eugene served in WWII in the army and thereafter became a NYC police officer. Upon retirement in 1966, he became a teacher on Long Island, NY for the next 20 years. Upon retirement from there, he moved to Florida where he spent his time traveling, golfing and enjoying his children and grandchildren.
Eugene lived a simple and humble life, but one that touched countless others. He embodied the Christian virtues of faith, hope and charity and served as a model to his children and God only knows how many others. He had a deep love of his Catholic faith and faithfully attended Holy Family Chapel in Melbourne. He will be dearly missed by his wife and children but he is now home with God whom he faithfully served during his life.
His family would like to sincerely thank all the exceptional people of Hospice of St. Francis in Titusville. All the people at St. Francis showed empathy and sincerity, values which are so lacking today. God will surely bless them.
Requiescat in pace.
Funeral mass is set for March 27, 2014 at 10:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church 3385 Wickham Rd Melbourne.
In lieu of flowers consider a donation to: Hospice of St. Francis, 1250 Grumman Pl #B, Titusville, FL 32780.
