Gary H. Carr, Sr., of Mims, Florida, was taken into the hands of our Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in Titusville. Gary was born in Cornstalk, WV, and was preceded in death by his father, Cecil H. Carr; mother, Lennie (Dancy) Carr; and sister, Carol Dick.

Gary and his wife Patricia, moved to Brevard in 1958. Gary was a former employee of United Space Alliance at Kennedy Space Center, FL, as a senior communications manager. He was a major contributor in United Space program. Gary started working in 1958, at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station with RCA; he supported all programs beginning with the first launch of Freedom Seven through the Shuttle program, until he retired in 1998. He received many accolades and awards for his contributions to the manned space program, notably the Manned Space Awareness Award, along with Snoopy Award, which is only presented by the NASA Astronaut Office. Gary was currently a consultant for Quintron Corporation out of Santa Maria California.

Gary was a graduate of Rainelle High School, WV, and attended Concorde College in Athens, WV. He also served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean campaign. Gary donated countless hours to multiple organizations such as the Jaycees, Little League baseball, and was one of the founding members of the Pop Warner Football League, which was established in the late 60's in Titusville, FL. He was also a member of New Life Christian Fellowship.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son, and friend. For those who were blessed, to have known him, can testify to his kind and generous spirit. He never met a stranger, he never forgot a name, and never stopped taking care of those he loved.

Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia Carr; daughter, Cheryl (John) Whalen; son, Gary (Jessina) Carr, Jr.; sisters, Ann (Jim) Dickenson and Karen Heron; grandchildren, Jennifer (Charles) Gatlin, Keri (Thomas) Udo, John Whalen, Emily Whalen and Samuel Whalen; and great-grandchildren; Hannah Udo, Peyton Gatlin, Kendal Gatlin and Amelia Gatlin.

The viewing will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 6 until 8 PM, at the North Brevard Funeral Home, located at 1450 Norwood Avenue, Titusville, FL, 32796. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM, at New Life Christian Fellowship, located at 6755 South Washington Avenue, Titusville, 32780.
