Retired Air Force Colonel Glenn B. Daughton died February 23, 2012 at the age of 96. Born in Sistersville, WV, he attended Carnegie Institute of Technology, graduating in 1937 with BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering. He went on active duty with the Army Signal Corps in 1940 and married Jean E. McLeod in December, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia.

During World War II, Col. Daughton was involved with radar and communications, serving in Panama and China-Burma-India Theatres as Commander of the Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion and also as an advisor to the Chinese Air Force Communications School at Chengtu. He also served as an Air Force instructor at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, attended the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base, and then stationed at several bases including Sandia Base-Albuquerque, NM, Cooke Air Force Base- CA, New Boston - NH, New Jersey, and finally at Patrick AFB - FL before retiring in 1967.

He retired in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where he worked for GE at Cape Canaveral and was involved in the Saturn and Apollo rocket programs. He also served as President and Treasurer of the Brevard County Genealogical Society.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, and his wife of 50 years.

He is survived by a dear friend, sister-in-law, and a niece and nephew.

Calling hours are 11 AM - 2 PM followed by a funeral service beginning at 2 PM, Sunday March 4, 2012 at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 North Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL 32953. Phone 321-452-6565. Burial will take place at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S. Highway 1, Cocoa, FL.
