James R. Lind
James R Lind passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2013 surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 5, 1933 in Braham, Minnesota and raised nearby in Stanley; one of four children of Carl and Viola Lind.
After serving four years in the Air Force during the Korean War, Jim began a career in the space program that included working for North American Rockwell during the Apollo program, working for NASA as a flight engineer on NASA-4 out of Patrick AFB and later working as a NASA Quality Inspector at Kennedy Space Center during the Shuttle program. Jim retired from NASA in 1994 and continued to be active in the space coast community, including volunteering at the US Space Walk of Fame Museum and monthly fly-in breakfasts at Dunn Airpark.
Jim is survived by Margie, his wife of nearly 57 years; sisters Rita Helberg and Ramona Karnowski; children Debbie (Collings), Jim, Dawn and Matt; grandchildren Chris Collings, Jennifer Lind, Amy (Collings) Owens and Kyle Lind; and great-grandchild Addison Owens.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm , funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am all at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville. Burial will follow by at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville.
