John Hoffman Jr., 81, departed this life on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in Melbourne, FL. Born on November 20, 1932 in South River, NJ, he was the beloved child of the late John and Alice Dominiecki-Hoffman. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of the Academy of Advance Traffic, NY and Rutgers University, NJ. He married the love of his life, Elaine Ash in 1956 and together, they raised two children.
John was elected Councilman for the Borough of South River in 1965, making history for the GOP, gaining the majority for the first time in a town that was predominately democratic. He also served on the Interstate Commerce Commission and was a member (PER) of Elks Lodge 2033.
Mr. Hoffman retired from American Cyanamid Co., Wayne, NJ after 25 years of commitment. In 1987, John and Elaine relocated to Brevard County, FL where they relished their golden years. Together they enjoyed fishing, boating, and traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad the Mediterranean, Europe and the Caribbean.
John leaves memories to be cherished by his wife, Elaine; children, Kathi Knight and Kevin Hoffman; grandchildren, Tyler and Lucas Knight; sisters, Marian Hoffman and Rose Frenzel (Lee); and niece, Noelle Frenzel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Melbourne Beach. Condolences may be shared at davisseawinds.com.
