June was a graduate of the University of Miami where she received her BBA. During that time, she met Almon D. Schmidlkofer (Smitty), who preceded her in death, and they were married. She had another child that preceded her in death, Sherri Beth Schmidlkofer.
After years of following her husband, who was in the Air Force, where they were stationed in Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Bermuda, and ended up at Patrick Air Force Base. While stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, June began teaching at Morningside Elementary School in Maryland, where she found a great love in her life - teaching children. From there they were stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, where she had a position as a teacher from 1959 - 1962. She then taught at Satellite Jr./Sr. High School from 1962 - 1964. DeLaura Jr. High was her last assignment, which was from 1964 - 1984. She taught history and geography. During her time as a teacher at De Laura, she and Smitty traveled to many countries (Russia, Jamaica, France, Italy, Switzerland, to name a few).
June loved music and was an avid piano player, tap dancer (The Golden Steppers - 13 years), gardener, and dog lover. The surviving dog grandchildren are Yoda, Sassy, and Nestle. Miss Mary Poppins was her remaining great grand cat.
Any donations for June Schmidlkofer should be sent to either The Golden Steppers (Carolyn Dion, 223 Canaveral Beach Blvd., Cape Canaveral, FL 32920) and/or The Brevard Humane Society - Central Brevard Branch.
