La Verne Clyde Wells, known as Verne, 83, of Indialantic, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2013 at the VITAS Hospice in Merritt Island.

Verne was born in Rockford, Illinois to Clyde and Josephine Wells on December 23, 1929. He graduated from East High School in Rockford IL. Verne served in the US Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.

He worked as a carpenter and custom home builder for 30 years, and then went on to be a Commercial Plans Examiner for the Brevard County Building Department, for 18 years before he retired.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde; and mother, Josephine.

Verne is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Michele: son, Scott Wells (Regina); son, Michael Wells; daughter, Kathleen Macias (Mark); stepdaughter, Nicole Van Alstine (Mark); stepson, Lloyd Cearley; grandson, Nicholas Caronna; granddaughter, Sarah Wells; grandson, Zachary Wells; grandson, Kyle VanAlastine; and granddaughter, Morgan VanAlstine; brother, Clyde Wells (Lorraine); and many nieces and nephews.

He never met a stranger, was fun loving and truly loved his family and friends. He will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Faith Viera Lutheran Church, at 5550 Faith Drive, Rockledge, FL 32955.

Graveside Service will be Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.

Florida Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
