Richard M. Cowen

Melbourne Beach, FL

Richard M. Cowen, born September 29, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN, died November 18, 2013. He was a graduate of University of Florida undergraduate and Law School. He also studied international law at Exeter University in England. Richard was a well respected member of the Florida Bar Association and a practicing attorney in Melbourne for 49 years .

He was passionate about life and strived to be the best at everything he attempted, competitive swimmer, surfer, fisherman and lawyer. He dreamed to have a place to hang his shingle, interview clients, practice law as well as a window to throw out a fishing line.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Cowen; aunt, Lenore Burgauer; numerous beloved cousins; sole mate and companion Kay Tichenor and his "baby" Sabra, his dog.

Services will be held at Beth-Lel Zedeck N. Cemetery in Indiana today. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Brevard Humane Society, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Wounded Warriors Angel Canines, East Coast Assistance Dogs.

A celebration of his life will be held locally at a near future date and will be announced in Florida Today.
