Samuel Cooper Shaw
Samuel Cooper Shaw, 94, of Cocoa, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014. He was a graduate of the Gulf Coast Military Academy in Gulfport, MS, and of St. Petersburg Junior College. During World War II, he served in the army with the 293rd Joint Assault Signal Company and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was then transferred to the Pacific Theatre, where he was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. He went on to enjoy a long career as a mortgage banker. He was preceded in death by his brother A.T. Shaw, Jr., wife Imogene, and daughter Holly Shaw.
He is survived by his daughters Beverly Foster of Slidell, LA, and Amy Shaw (John) of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren William Foster, Charles Foster, Ellen Kreitzer, and Caroline Kreitzer; and stepgrandson Brian Williams. He was the epitome of a gentle man with impeccable manners and great wit, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Private interment will be held at a later date in Gulf Shores, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a veterans or wildlife charity.
