William N Dunning, age 81, was called home by our Lord on Wednesday 9-11-2013. Bill was career military, having served during Korea &Vietnam, retiring in 1972. His post retirement hobbies included photography, cycling & traveling, returning to Europe & the Holy Lands. Bill was a member of the PAFB Catholic community, were he ushered and was an EMHCS minister. Bill was a life member of the Sergeants Association, the DAV, Assoc. of Blinded Vet's & the American legion.
Born in London, England in 1932, Bill joined the British Merchant Navy after graduation, serving on the HMS Mauritania as a ship's steward crisscrossing the Atlantic. This was how he met his future wife of 61 years, Margaret. After several in-port visits to NYC, courting Margaret, Bill decided to settle down. He joined the USAF in 52, became a US citizen in 53 and married the love of his life in 1953. Even as an American, Bill always remained proud of his British heritage.
Bill had many talents, blessed with a beautiful voice, the ability to draw & paint, play the piano and was very mechanical, enjoying working with his hands. Bill & family arrived in Brevard in 1971 as his last assignment in the USAF. Bill is survived by his wife Margaret, his son, Mark and daughter Carol, along with 3 granddaughters, Melissa, Brittany and Jessica as well as 3 great grandchildren, Rachel, Jayden and Heather.
Bill was loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at 2:30 at the South Patrick Chapel located at 854 Harrier Ave, (Capehart housing) Satellite Beach.
