Monroe Cox Obituary

Monroe Ardell Cox

Melbourne

On May 31, 2015 Monroe Ardell Cox returned to be with our Lord. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife, children and grand-children. Monroe became a resident of the Space Coast at six weeks old as the child of John W. Cox and Emma Norabell Cox.

Monroe married the love of his life, Rosie Nell Cannon (now Cox) on September 1, 1942 and was drafted to serve his country in World War II. For two years he served in Operation Watchtower in the Guadacanal Campaign,   first major offensive by Allied forces against the Empire of Japan. After returning from the war Monroe worked as a carpenter and eventually as a firefighter for over 20 years at Kennedy Space Center, eventually retiring from Pan Am.

Monroe is survived by his wife of 72 years, Rosie Cox; two children, Richard Cox and Linda Lake; grandchildren, Kelly Zukowski, Jennifer Young, Tim Sutton and Christie Brown; great grandchildren, Dalton Young, Jimmy Young & Cody Sutton. Also Shawn Sutton & RJ, who are departed.

Please pray for comfort and strength for the family as we endure the hardship of loss and celebrate the 92 years of Monroe Cox. Mostly, pray for his sweet wife Rosie.

Family will receive friends from 3-4 pm, Wednesday, June 3rd followed by a 4pm Funeral Service at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne, FL.

My heart has a piece gone. You taught me so much growing up . You and grandma have always been rock. I miss you my handsome man. God needed a new angel and he chose you that day. Glad we got that dance in, the last walk we took with your sunglasses on and smile from ear to ear.
