Albert "Abe" Weimer, 86, lifelong Fort Morgan resident died Friday, May 9, 2014 with his wife by his side.
Abe was born February 22, 1928 in Fort Morgan to Fred and Katherine (Reichert) Weimer. He served his country in the U.S Navy from 1945 until 1947. On March 18, 1950 he married Hazel Thompson in Fort Morgan.
Abe was a member of the Christ Congregational Church. He was also a life member of the local
Post #2551 and the American Legion #19. Abe was very committed to area veterans. For many years he was the leader of the local VFW Honor Guard that performed military honors at the cemetery for fallen veterans.
Abe enjoyed, baseball, football, golf, and fishing, and was an avid Broncos and Rockies fan. He loved his family and they were very important to him, especially his wife, Hazel.
Survivors include his wife Hazel of Fort Morgan, one son, Robert Weimer (Linda) of Fort Collins, three daughters, Linda Neuburger (Dennis) of Loveland, Karen Baker (Bill) of Peabody, Massachusetts, and Cathy Lindell (Kevin) of Fort Morgan, one sister, Esther Lough of Fort Morgan, eleven grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Abe was preceded in death by a great grandson, 6 brothers, 3 sisters, and his parents.
Memorial Services will be Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at11:00 am at the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made in Abe's name to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the Heer Mortuary.
