ARTHUR C. GUTMANN, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Visiting Nurse, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Arthur worked with American Hoist for 20 years, and later with ADM for six years, retiring in 1990. He served his country as a member of the Army-Air Force during World War II as a B-17 pilot. Arthur recently wrote an autobiography about his experiences in the service. He was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church and of the American Legion Post 160. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Louanna (nee Rapp) Gutmann of Fort Wayne; daughters, Gwen (Hal) Sandkuhler of Racine, Wis., Marilyn (John) Ginter of Muncie, Ind. and Janel (Doug) Harber of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jeanine (Gutmann) Rutter of Des Moines, Iowa; and sister, Ruth Sutorius of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger (Carol) Gutmann; brother, Ralph Gutmann; and sister, Dorothy Baker. Service is noon Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Krauss Chapel of Trinity English Lutheran Church, 405 West Wayne St., with a gathering one hour prior.
