ARTHUR W. PARRY JR., 90, of Fort Wayne passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born Aug. 2, 1923 in Fort Wayne. He graduated from South Side High School and earned his B.A. from DePauw University and attended Indiana University studying Journalism and Law. His military service included Army Reserve Corps, 1942 to 1943; and served in the European Theater during World War II in the U.S. Army 331st Infantry, 83rd Division 1943 to 1946. He was the XII Corps Track and Field Champion for the 100 Meter Dash in Regensberg, Germany, during World War II. He was a lifelong athlete, lettering in track at South Side and DePauw. Numerous records were set in the 100 yard dash including a speedy 9.8 seconds as a Senior at DePauw. He was also an avid tennis player and golfer. He was employed by Moore Business Forms, Patterson Fletcher, Central Soya Company, and co-owner of Prentice Products. Upon retirement, he loved to travel and plan big family trips. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Anna Mae Parry (Jacobson); daughters, Linda Parry of Columbia City, Cynthia Parry (Michael Lemon) of Columbia City, Patricia (Donald C. Jr.) Molten of Hudson, Ohio, Janet Parry (Steve Boyd) of Mars, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur W. and Marguerite Parry, Sr. Celebration of Life service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 West Berry St., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Rev. Dr. John P. Gardner officiating.
