CAROL A. KING, 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Garrett. Born in Fort Wayne, Carol graduated from North Side High School in 1958 and Purdue University in 1975. She worked as a R.N. with St. Joseph Medical Center for 28 years, retiring in 2004. She was an avid fisherman and loved to fish with her dad and family. It was her life dream to live on a lake and fish whenever she wanted. She was blessed to be able to fulfill her dream and live on Knapp Lake for many years. Carol was the matriarch of the family and was also a dedicated and caring nurse. Surviving are her son, Samuel W. King of Fort Wayne; daughters, Julie F. (Michael) Pollos of Fort Wayne and Deborah S. (Sean) Moynahan of Garrett; brothers, Phillip D. (Ngoc) Lockwood of Las Vegas, ev., Wayne N. (Cathie) Lockwood Jr. of Normal, Ill., Daniel F. (Diane) Lockwood of North Carolina, Tim M. (Carol) Lockwood of Churubusco, and Patrick W. (Chris) Lockwood of Fort Wayne; sister, Madolyn Sue (Larry) Mertz of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Clinton, Alexandria, Betsy, Heath, Alicia, Nick, Laura, Sydney, and Chase; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn King; parents, Wayne N. and Betty I. Lockwood; and one great-grandson, Foxx. Service is 4 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling two hours prior. Pastor Robert Herman officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or DeKalb Hospice.
