CHARLES B. GRABNER, 87, of Monroeville, died on Thursday, May 8, 2014, 9:51 a.m., at Golden Years Homestead. Born Sept. 12, 1926 , in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Clem M. Grabner and Irene (Blodgett) Grabner. He married L. Irene Hartman on July 3, 1947; she passed away on Feb. 1, 2006. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, New Haven, and the American Legion Post 420, Monroeville. He retired in 1981 from East Allen County Schools with 28 years of service. Surviving are his son, Alan Michael "Mike" (Pam) Grabner of Monroeville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Lee Grabner; brother, Clem Grabner; half brother, Robert R. Novick; and half sisters, Joan Myers, Mary Lou Huston and Evelyn Breidert. Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, with visitation one hour prior. The Rev. David J. Williamson officiating. Visitation also from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven, with Military graveside honors conducted by the American Legion Post 420 of Monroeville.
