CHARLES F. SHIPMAN, 93, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at Wood-view Health Care Center in Fort Wayne. Born in Indiana-polis, Charles came to Fort Wayne to play baseball on the semi-pro G.E. team. After baseball he worked as a tool maker with GE for 28 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army overseas during World War II and was a member of Eagles Aerie 248, American Legion Post 82, G.E. Quarter Century Club, and Fort Wayne Baseball Hall of Fame. Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Betty Jo Shipman of Fort Wayne; sisters, Betty M. Jordan and Janice K. (Joe) Craven; brother, Louis H. (Doris) Shipman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Clara M. Shipman. Service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior. Rev. Russ Abel officiating. Calling also from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at D. O.
