CHARLES R. "BUD" MUMY, 85, of Amarillo, Texas, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Born Sept. 6, 1927, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of Harley and Dorothy Mumy. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict as an Airman First Class. His passion was stock car racing, and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan. Some of Bud's hobbies included golfing and dancing. He was affectionately known as "Bocky" by his grandchildren. He was also a very active member with the V.F.W., American Legion, and the Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Norma Mumy; children, Dawn (Joe) Garcia, Cheryl (Bobby) Stennett, Robert Mumy, Beverlee Mumy, Joni Mumy, and Randy Mumy, all of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Hike of Fort Wayne; and a host of neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Betty Bahr, Helen McClure and Joan Davis. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Cox Funeral Home, Benton Chapel, with Chaplain Ken Haney officiating. Burial in Llano Cemetery. Memorials to Wounded Warrior Project.
