DOYLE W. SHIRK, 90, of New Haven, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Genesis Health care, New Haven. Born March 31, 1923, in Stryker, Ohio, he was a son of the late Floyd and Ada Shirk. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He retired in 1986 as Supervisor of Building and Maintenance from Fort Wayne Community Schools after 24 years. He was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church and the American Legion. Surviving are his son, Michael S. (Carol) Shirk of Noblesville; daughters, Patricia J. (Tim) Watts of New Haven and Jeanine K. (Garry) Harrison of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Middletown of Ossian. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, in 2005; daughter, Linda Shirk, in 1960; and sister, Dorthea Neal. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with calling 1 1/2 hour before services. Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating. Entombment in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Preferred memorials to Parkview Home Health & Hospice.
