EDWARD L. BROWN, 85, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born in Dubois, Pa., he was a manager of the JC Penney - Fort Wayne and Harrisburg, Pa. stores for 43 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran. He enjoyed being outdoors, exercising at the Y with "Silver Sneakers", and spending time with friends, neighbors and family. He was a devoted husband and caretaker of his late wife, Vivian (Rowland) Brown. Survivors include sons, Gary L. (Julie) Brown of Fort Wayne, Jeffrey A. (Kimberly) Brown of Glen Allen, Va.; daughters, Linda J. Brown and Cynthia (Gary) Hale, both of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Arminta (Beck) Brown; son, Dennis Brown; and brother, Roger Brown. Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with calling from 11:30 to 2 p.m. Pastor Russ Abel and Nathan Whybrew officiating. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
