EMMETT JOSEPH BOGDON, 94, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013, with fam ily present and under the loving care of nurses and staff of Englewood Nursing Home. He served in England during World War II in the Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged in 1945. He retired as a USPS Letter Carrier in 1981 and was a 50 year Gold Card (Life) Member of the National Association of Letter Carriers as well as a Life Member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He enjoyed swimming and walking and was an avid gardener who grew huge pumpkins with his grandchildren's names inscribed on them. Surviving are his daughters, Marsha (Michael) Smith and Linda (Richard) Shively both of Fort Wayne; daughter, Judith (Vincent) Formanek of Hillside, Ill.; his son, Emmett (Maureen) Bogdon of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Emmett was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ann Bogdon; and grandson, Michael Smith. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2213 Brooklyn Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013 at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with a Prayer Vigil at 7:45 p.m. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes.
