ERICKA MAY ANDERSON, 28, passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, following a long illness. Born in Leo-minster, Mass., May 1, 1985, she had resided in Fort Wayne since 1990. A graduate of Carroll High School, Ericka received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne, and was pursuing her master's degree in psychology at the University of Saint Francis. A talented performer, she was active in the Fort Wayne arts community, having appeared in several plays and musicals including the IPFW Theatre Department, the Fort Wayne Youth, Civic, and Arena Dinner Theatres. Her big debut arrived when she was selected by long-time mentor, Harvey Cocks, to star in the Youth Theatre production of "The Little Mermaid". An accomplished dancer, she also participated with the Fort Wayne Ballet, and had been awarded a dance minor degree. She had the experience of living in Los Angeles, Calif. for several months, and played an "extra" in a variety of television and cinema productions. She is survived by her parents, Jon W. and Susan (Found) Anderson of Fort Wayne; sister, Kathryn Anderson of Fort Wayne; brother, Kristopher Anderson of Osaka, Japan; and her faithful rescue dog, Piper; she also leaves behind half-siblings, Robin Studt of Fort Wayne, Jon Anderson Jr. of Winchester, Va., Jennifer Marr and Jessica Murray of Gardner, Mass.; and several loving aunts and uncles. A private Memorial is to be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations be made to the Allen County SPCA or the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre.
