GERALD SYLVESTER BOWLBY SR., 71, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Cov-ington Manor Nursing Home. Born Dec. 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Ralph and Josephine Bowlby. He drove trucks for 30 years for Teamsters Local 414. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He loved to write poetry and learn about the American Indians. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Pamela (Billman) Bowlby; children, Marcy (Scott) Griebel, Gerald "BO" Bowlby Jr., Kelly (Brian) Hardy, and Mark (Kristy) Bowlby; five grandchildren, Kelsie, Gavin, Blake, Kalynn and Langstyn; and one great-grandchild, Xavier; and siblings, Sharon Lopshire, Shirley Stillwell, Carolyn Pyle, Judy Schmidt and Robert, Ken, Howard and Mike Bowlby. He was also preceded in death by Alfred, David and Janet. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State St. with calling one hour prior to service. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd. with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Entombment will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
