HAROLD L. LAVACHEK, 85, of Huntertown, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Parkview Hospital Randallia. Born in Chicago, he grew up in Washington Township and was a Korean Conflict Army veteran. He had been employed at Fruehauf Trailer, International Harvester, and Myers Service Station, and retired in 1998 from Northwest Allen County Schools after 13 years. He was a member of Huntertown V.F.W. Post 11314 and Huntertown Pioneer Club. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Betty (Myers) Lavachek; daughters, Patty (David R.) Houser and Cindy (Randy) Bailey, both of Huntertown; sister, Linda Nerad of Downgton, Penn.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters. Service is 3 p.m. Friday at Huntertown United Methodist Church, 16021 Lima Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco. Burial with military graveside rites in Huntertown Cemetery. Memorials to the church.
