DR. JACK L. BLACK, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014. He was born April 3, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Mich. a son of the late Paul R. and Goldie Black. Jack was an Optometrist for 50 years in various cities in Indiana. He was a Navy Corpsman Veteran during the Korean War and a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Joretta Black; children, Gina (Bradford) Durham, and Gary Black; sisters, Judith Strate and Jean Boyles; grandchildren, David, Lauren, A.J., Ross, and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Hailie, Kylie, Matthew, and Landon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Black. Service is 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 2132 Getz Rd. with calling one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to St. Michael Lutheran Church or Donor's Choice.
