JAMES "JIM" A. BANGERT, 80, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Fort Wayne, Jim served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Jim married the love of his life, Mary Ann on Sept. 6, 1958; she survives. He was an Electronics Technician with International Harvester for 38 years, retiring in 1998. He was a past member of St. Paul Catholic Church serving as a cantor, lector and usher for many years. He was an active member and usher at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, and he was a member of American Legion Post 499. Jim enjoyed fishing, going to the lake, playing Euchre, and spending time with his family. Other survivors are son, Mark Bangert of Huntertown; daughters, Cheryl Mills, Laura Martin and Teresa (Mark Colone) Ohneck, all of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren on the way. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert J. and Helen Bangert; brothers, Thomas and Robert F. Bangert; and sister, Mary Jane Downar. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with calling one hour prior. Msgr. Robert C. Schulte officiating. Calling also from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at D.O.
