JAMES "JIM" E. WALTENBURG, 74, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Genesis Health care, New Haven. Born in Fort Wayne, Jim served in the U.S. Army. He worked with GE for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He was a volunteer fireman while working for GE and was a griever for the local 901. He was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church, the Lions Club where he was very active in the research of eye disease. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy Waltenburg of New Haven; son, Mark Waltenburg of Fort Wayne; daughters, Beth (Rod) Woodruff of Indianapolis and Kari Rappaport of Charlottsville, Va.; brother, Neil (Joan Wilder) Waltenburg of Venice, Fla.; and grandchildren, Payton and Parker Woodruff, and Sydney Rappaport. He was preceded in death by parents, William and Gladys Waltenburg; and an infant daughter. Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Kevin Dekoninck officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
