JAMES "JIM" HARTER, 69, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at his home in New Haven. Born in Fort Wayne, Jim was a Vietnam War Marine Veteran. He worked with Zollner Pistons for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the VFW Post in New Haven. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, working in the yard, watching IU and spending time with his family. Surviving are his loving wife Sherry Harter of New Haven; son Matthew (Stephanie) Harter; daughters Julie McCoy, Carrie Andonian, Jillian (Robert) Ward all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Makayla, Colin, Sam, Madison, Morgan, Natalie, Cameron, Nick, Trey; sisters Juanita Gasper, and Pamela Harter Reed both of Fort Wayne; brothers Larry (Judy) Harter of Gas City, John (Ginger) Harter of Olive Branch, Miss., and Robert Harter of Fort Wayne; and his beloved dog Willow. He was preceded in death by parents Otto and Cleo Harter; grandson Trey McCoy; sisters, Barbara Wilcox and Kathlyne Nodine; brothers, Franklin "Bud" Harter, and Elvin "Gene" Harter. Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, with calling one hour prior. Fr. James Kumbakkeel officiating. Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 with a vigil service at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd.
