JIM HARWARD, 58, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at his residence. Born in Newport, Rhode Island, James was a U.S. Navy veteran. He worked as a Coffee Roaster with Crazy Sisters Coffee Roasters. Previously, he was first engineer on several fishing boats in Alaska where he received an award from the Japanese government for rescuing one of its citizens who had fallen overboard. Jim, a soul mate to his Pookie and always with a big heart, was a world traveler, desert rat, avid reader, photographer, fan of soccer, cycling and Bugs Bunny, rescuer of cats, and an entomaniac. Surviving are his wife, Kyah (Marcia) Harward of Fort Wayne; sister, Susan Miller of California; and brother, Robert S. Harward Jr. of California. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert S. Harward Sr. and Carol J. (Patton) Harward. Toasting of Jim is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at D.O.
