JOHN B. COE, 79, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at Signature Health-care of Fort Wayne. He was born in Fort Wayne, May 3, 1935 a son of the late Earl Coe and Georgia (Brook-over) Coe. John graduated from New Haven High School in 1954 where he excelled in sports and was the captain of the only undefeated football team, a record which was held for many years. He attended Butler University and graduated from DeVry Institute. Following his college years, he entered into the United States Navy where he was an electrician on the Corsair and the Tigrone submarines. He was in the Navy for seven years and earned the rank of EM1. He married Marjorie Adeen Anderson on May 25, 1958 in Wymore, Neb. The couple moved back to Fort Wayne and he was employed as an industrial electrician with B.F. Goodrich for 30 years. He retired from Zollner Piston five years later. He was a member of the Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne and served as a trustee. He was also a Boy Scout leader. He was an avid bowler as well and was involved in many bowling leagues. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Coe of Fort Wayne; daughter, Cami (Don) Heitger of Columbia City; son, Barry (Treva) Coe of Grabill; grandson, Jonathan Gerdes; and granddaughter, Shonda Coe. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, John Burr, Jr.; infant grandson, Luke David Coe; brothers, Charles, Jack and Jim Coe. No services will be held.
