JOHN B. "JACK" KAST, 94, passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Coving ton Comn mons Senior Living, Fort Wayne. Born in Garrett, Jack was a World War II Air Force veteran. Jack was the owner of City Carpet for 50 years. He was a member of Aboite Lutheran Church, Elks 155 and the American Legion in North Webster. Jack enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Betty Kast of Fort Wayne; daughters, Darinda (Robert) Shroyer of Peoria, Ill. and Jacque (Bruce) Rowley of Fort Wayne; stepson, Steven Esterline of Bradenton, Fla.; brother, Michael Kast of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Service is 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Richard Pagan officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
