JOHN B. PALMER, JR., 91, left this earth Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 to reunite with his wife Dottie just in time for a New Year's Eve dance. John served in the Army after high school and later graduated from the University of Notre Dame with law and accounting degrees. He devoted 28 years of his career life to Central Soya, from which he retired in 1982. Forever the builder, he adopted wood-working as a hobby, and true to his character, he studied and became quite accomplished. He is survived by seven children, Thomas E. (Mary) Palmer of Brookfield, Wisc., Janice A. (Greg) Pac of Fort Wayne, Robert J. Palmer of Fort Wayne, John B. (Julie) Palmer, III of Deerfield, Ill., James D. (Kathy) Palmer of Hoschton, Ga., Donald S. (Glenda) Palmer of Cicero, Ind.; and Jean M. (Ron) Schug of Andrews, Ind.; also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and the loved extended families of his children. He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy A. (Lauer) Palmer in 2005; his daughter, Joyce Elaine; his parents, John B. and Louise (Lochert) Palmer; and grandparents, William Wilson and Mary (Harkenrider) Palmer and Henry Emil and Mary (Starke) Lochert. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church with calling one hour prior. Msgr. John Kusmich officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with a Vigil at 4:30 pm.
