JOHN H. "JACK" DEITCHE, Ph.D., 84, passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, John was a Korean War veteran. He received his Masters Degree in 1957 and Doctorate in Psychology in 1959 from Indiana University. He then worked as an assistant superintendent with the Fort Wayne State Development Center for 41 years, retiring in 2002. He also taught psychology at IPFW. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Surviving are his sons, Gary (Heidi) Deitche of Brownsburg and Gerry Deitche of Indianapolis; daughter, Kendra (Brook Hukill) Deitche of Fort Wayne; brother, Ralph Deitche of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Kayla, Emilee and Tyler; and best friend and beloved dog, Chip. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Deitche; and parents, Carl and Caroline (Stukofski) Deitche. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 518 E. DeWald St., with calling one hour prior. Fr. Phillip A. Widmann presiding. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., with Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery.
