JOSEPH N. "BUB" BALDWIN, 90, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his home. Born Sept. 2, 1922, in Butler, he was a son of the late Major K. and Mable (Sprow) Baldwin. He graduated from Butler High School in 1941. In 1943, he joined the U.S. Army and was in the second wave to attack Nazi Europe on Utah Beach, and he was also involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Joe worked as a tool and die maker at Universal Tool and Stamping in Butler for over 50 years. He was the Mayor of Butler from 1975 to 1980. He married Alice Deweese on Dec. 26, 1976, in Petersburg, Ind.; she preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2013. He attended the Butler Nazarene Church, was a member of the Butler American Legion Post 202 and Forest Lodge 239 F&AM in Butler. Survivors include two sisters and brother-in-laws, Polly (Jack) Michaels of Fort Wayne and Cheryl (Richard) Cordes of Port Orange, Fla.; nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Theda (George) Folk and Lois Arlene Baldwin. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Butler. Pastor Paul Patton officiating. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 6 p.m. A Military graveside service will follow at the Buter Cemetery.
