KARL S. BIEDENWEG, Ph.D., 61, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Karl was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era, a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and the Fremont Moose Lodge. He was a professor of business who retired from Blackburn College in 2011. Previously, he worked for Culver Stockton College, Tri State University and Indiana Business College. Surviving are his sons, Joseph Robert Biedenweg of Fremont and Benjamin Karl Biedenweg of Portland, Ore.; brothers, Baron R. (Diane) Biedenweg of Angola and Douglas A. Biedenweg of Bracey, Va.; and former spouse, Janet L. Swan of Carlinville, Ill. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert O. and Louise M. (Boyd) Biedenweg; and brother, William G. Biedenweg. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Turnstone Center.
