LARKIN CRAIG KEOUN, 74, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014, at St. Joseph Hopsital, Fort Wayne. Born in Glade water, Texas, he received a BBA from Baylor University and MBA from Indiana University. After college, he served the United States as a Captain in the Air Force. He began his career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse in Dallas. He later became Vice President and Controller of General Portland Cement. He and his family celebrated the country's bicentennial in 1976 by moving to Fort Wayne where he became a General Manager of General Portland. He later became owner of Plastic Composites, Inc. and enjoyed operating the company for 20 years. Inventing many interesting products, he holds a United States Patent on an Aerial Bucket Support Apparatus. Recently, he worked as a business consultant. Mr. Keoun was on the first board of Canterbury School, volunteering as the school accountant. His service on the Heritage Trail Foundation was one of his proudest accomplishments, establishing historical markers throughout the city. He served on the board of the Y.M.C.A. for 10 years, and others including the Historical Society and Real Men Read. He was also an active member of the Business Forum for 30 years. He was a committed follower of his Christian faith and enjoyed studying the Bible with men's groups on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Craig particularly loved to entertain friends and family and in retirement he enjoyed working in his yard and traveling with friends. He was a member of Emmanuel Community Church. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Diane G. Keoun of Fort Wayne; his beloved dog, Duke; daughter, Valerie (Christopher) Norris of Dallas, Texas; son, Brad Keoun (Dr. Esther Calzada) of Mexico City, Mexico; and grandchildren, Jonah, Parker and Reilly Keoun, and Heidi and Henry Norris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larkin C. Keoun Sr. and Grace C. Keoun; and sister, Katharine K. Gentsch. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at Emmanuel Community Church, 12222 US Highway 24 W., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Memorials may be made to the Fort Wayne Philharmonic or Jorgenson Y.M.C.A.
