LEE CHARLES LAWSON, 69, of Simpsonville, S.C., died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at McCall Hospice House. Born in Moline, Ill., he was the son of the late Charles Truman Lawson and Alta Veloy Woodward Lawson. He retired from IBM in 1991, and also worked for Lexmark, D&D Signature Homes, and Strategic Benefits Consulting. While living in Fort Wayne, Lee was a member of the Anthony Wayne Rotary Club, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, the Waynedale Masonic Lodge, the Elks Club, the Board of Directors for Fort Wayne Rescue Ministries, and served as President of the Mercedes Benz Club Three Rivers Section. A man of deep faith, Lee was an active member of Sonrise United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, and currently a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Sherry Ann Read Lawson; son, Jarrod (Casey) Lawson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; daughter, Kimberly (Jason) Bagwell of Greer; four grandchildren, Lily Bagwell, Josie Bagwell, Bowen Lawson, and Charlotte Lawson; sisters, Eileen Lovejoy of Livermore, Calif. and Colleen Nelson of Absarokee, Mont. He was also preceded in death by son, Kevin Lawson; and aunt, Wava Woodward, who raised him after the death of his mother. Funeral service is 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Maudlin United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast. Burial will follow service in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of Greenville, 113 Mills Ave., Greenville, SC, 29605; or Mauldin United Methodist Church, 100 E. Butler Road, Mauldin, SC 29662.
