MARJORIE G. LOCKWOOD, 92, of Bluffton, passed away the evening of Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at her residence, at River Terrace Estates. Born in Bluffton, she was a daughter of William B. and Edna Grim. She graduated from high school in Bluffton and then from The University of Iowa, Iowa City, with a major in journalism. After graduation, she worked in New York City where she met her first husband, Dr. Adrian Recinos Jr., and later had two sons in northern Virginia, Adrian III and William Edward, the latter of whom died in an accident in 1985. Marge was very independent and held several interesting employment positions in Washington D.C. during her younger years. She was "Social Secretary" to Mrs. John Foster Dulles, wife of the Secretary of State under President Eisenhower. Later she administered the Decatur House for the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In 1977, Marge married a second time to her loving old high school suitor, Cecil Lockwood Jr. of Bluffton. Cecil had three grown sons from his first marriage, Philip Lockwood of Bluffton, Thomas Lockwood of Fort Wayne and John Lockwood of Philadelphia. She and Cec lived happily together in Bluffton until his death in 1999. Besides those mentioned above, Marge is survived by five second-degree Recinos grandchildren, William, Evan, Adrian IV, R. Caldwell, and Ellen Marjorie; two great-grandchildren, Carmen and Claire Recinos, with William and wife Joanna; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Recinos of Arlington, Va.; a former daughter-in-law, Claudia Newkofsky of Canton, N.Y.; and like a daughter - dear friend, Trudy Murray of Bluffton. "Since Marge told us that she would come back and haunt us if we had a funeral or memorial service for her, we will have a small family gathering for her at a later time." Marge always looked forward to her weekly bridge club and the Bay View Reading Club. And because Marge was such a voracious reader and followed Friends of the Library at the Bluffton Public Library, memorial gifts in her name may kindly be made to the Friends of the Library through the funeral home. Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home is serving the Lockwood family. Friends may send online condolences to the family at
