MICHAEL E. BOHRER, 60, of Monroeville, passed away Mon day, Feb, 17, 2014, 11:46 a.m., at his residence, following a period of failing health. Born Aug. 12, 1953, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Freda V. (Hughes) Smith and the late Edward Bohrer. He was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam war and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was formerly employed in Texas in the auto parts industry before recently moving to Indiana. He married Vicki Adams, she passed away Sept. 2, 2013, in Texas. Surviving are his mother, Freda V. Smith of Monroeville; brothers, J. Tony (Linda) Smith and Timothy D. (Rita) Smith both of Monroeville; and sisters, Sheila A. (Mark) Smith of Warsaw, Cathy (Rick) Smith of Monroeville and Gelana E. (Thomas) Korte of Decatur. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, John T. Smith, in 2007. Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, 111 South Water St., Monroeville with Pastor Brent Hickman officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 420 and VFW Color Guard from Monroeville.
