MICHAEL J. LEHMAN, 73, of Fort Wayne, a native of Berne, passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at parkview Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 10, 1939, he was the son of the late Edgar and Inez. (Ha begger) Lehman. He married Donna Lehmann on Oct. 4, 1959. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a founding member of Maplewood Mennonite Church, Fort Wayne and was on the committee that started the nursery school. He graduated from Purdue University and was a project engineer for International Harvester / Navistar for over 40 years. He was an innovative engineer who was awarded five patents for inventing various truck systems. He was co-president of the Parkinson's Support Group and a volunteer Santa Claus at Fort Wayne Development Center for over 20 years. He was a member of Swiss Heritage Society and Berne American Legion Post 468 for 29 years. He was an avid sports and racing fan. Above all, he enjoyed following his grand childrens' activities. Also surviving are daughter, Pamela (George) Pulliam of Cumming, Ga.; sons, Carl Lehman of Fort Wayne and Bruce (Tina) Lehman of Woodburn, Ind.; four grandchildren; one step-grand son; one great-grandchild; and sister, Gretchen (Claude) Oxendine of Rockledge, Fla. He was also preceded in death by his wife. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at First Mennonite Church Chapel, Berne, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Barry Schmell officiating. Visitation also from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Maple wood Mennonite Church, Fort Wayne. Burial in M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne.
