MILDRED L. (GROSSMAN) HAFFT, 87, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in Fort Wayne. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Jim Eby Post 857 V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Post 82 Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time reading and going out with her friends to the V.F.W. Surviving are her sister, Beverly Martin of Springhill, Fla.; nieces, Mary (Steve) Gaskill of Fort Wayne, Carol Gates of Springhill, Fla., Sandra (Billy) Hand of Auburn, Beverly (Jerry) Pruet of Bessemer, Ala., Eileen Cole and Sue Rachal, both of Fort Wayne, Susie Simpson of Dallas, Texas, Fay Condron, Ann Ohle and Lee Young, all of Florida; nephews, John (Myla) and Jeffrey (Martina) Carpenter, both of Clever, Mo.; great-niece and nephew and caregivers, Jeanna Wollford and Kevin Rooney; and great-great-niece, Andrea. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Louise Grossman; husband, Floyd Hafft; sisters, Lona Carpenter and Edith Bell; brothers, Herbert, Carl "Bud" and Eugene Grossman; nephews, Michael Neumann and Glenn Carpenter; great-nephew, Jeremy Carpenter; and great-great-nephew, Ryan Hand. Service is 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling from 1 to 3 p.m. Pastor Thomas Eggold officiating.
