PERRY R. HARTER, 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at home. He graduated from North Side High School in 1951. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 where he was a radio operator; he also was a pitcher for the U.S. Naval traveling baseball team. He was employed by General Electric Company for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a lifelong, die hard Chicago Cubs fan and a loyal Chicago Bears fan. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon; son, Ty (Laura); daughter, Stacy (Jason); four grandchildren, Miranda, Casey, Adam, and Hendrix; and five brothers, Larry, Jerry, Gordon, Keith, and Gary. A social gathering for family, friends and acquaintances is 3 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. To honor Perry's love of the Cubs and Bears, the family encourages guests to wear Cubs and Bears apparel. Preferred memorials may be given to Matthew 25. "Many thanks to Southern Care Hospice."
