RALPH F. GUTMANN, 91, of Rome City, formerly of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Lutheran Life Villages of Kendall ville. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Frieda Gutmann. The Navy veteran was a member of the American Legion Post 296. He was a member of Grace St. John's United Church of Christ. He was a farmer and had worked for Paul Huth Construction until he bought them out and retired from Gutmann Construction in 1985. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Mary "Jane" Gutmann of Rome City; daughter, Debra (Alonzo) Drennon of Rome City; brother, Arthur Gutmann; sister, Ruth Sutorius; daughter-in-law, Debra Gutmann; son-in-law, Terry Carlson; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Gutmann; daughter, Patricia Carlson; great-grand son, Dalton Skaggs; and sister, Dorothy Baker. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the funeral home.
