RICK S. PERTICS, 61, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013, at the farm from injuries sustained in an accident. Rick was the co-owner of Pertics Blueberry Plantation, LaPaz. Born Oct. 13, 1951, in South Bend, he was a son of the late Ernest R. and Gloria J. (Melton) Pertics. Rick lived all of his life in LaPaz and Plymouth. Rick and Cindy married on March 7, 1987, in LaPaz. Rick proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Navy. He was a member of the Michigan Blueberry Growers Association. One of his greatest joys was sharing time with his grandchildren and nephews on the farm. Rick was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Bears fan. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; four children, Diana (Ward) Stevens, Donna (A.J.) Pratt, Debbie (Kim) Krauhs, and David (Natasha) Spake, all of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Valerie (Arch) Milani of South Bend; mother-in-law, Nancy Bron strup of Wolcotteville; and two nephews, Ben (Lori) Milani and Luke Milani, both of Mishawaka. Funeral service is 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville, Ind., where friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Graveside service is 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Rick S. Pertics may be donated to Farm Aid, 501 Cambridge St., 3rd Floor, Cambridge, MA 02141.
