THERON C. LINDSEY, 90, of Ossian, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at his residence. Born Dec. 18, 1923, in Bluffton, he was a son of the late Theron Curtis and Bertha Lindsey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He work ed as a traffic engineer for the Indiana Department of Transportation. He was a member of American Legion Post 111, V.F.W., and the Elks and Moose Lodges. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, fishing and woodworking. Surviving family include his wife, Olga Lindsey; stepchildren, Michelle (Larry) Heckber, Patricia (Ben) Shaffer, Michael (Patricia) Eber, Jean Brickley, Ruby (Bill) Huggins, and Rex (Nan) Munson; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in passing by his first wife, June Lindsey; and brothers, Roger, Keith, Kenneth, Leon, and Max. Funeral service is 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Honor Flight.
