THOMAS JOSEPH WALSH, 90, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born Nov. 9, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Andrew and Margaret (Coyne) Walsh. He graduated from St. Leo High School, in Chicago and attended DePaul University. Tom was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army's 1306th Engineering Regiment, 3rd Army. He saw action in Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and the occupation of Japan. On April 18, 1953, he married Dorothy Kindberg. They spent 60 beautiful years together and raised four wonderful children in Rockford, Ill. He and Dorothy moved to Fort Wayne three years ago to be close to the family. He was a longtime member of St. Edward Parish, in Rockford Ill. and was very involved in the Democratic party of Winnebago County, Ill. Tom volunteered at numerous local city charities and donated many hours to "Give Kids the World". Tom retired from Castle Metals where he worked for 25 years. He and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Florida, but his true passion in life was his family. Tom always made everyone feel welcome, at their home of over 50 years. Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy Walsh of Fort Wayne; son, Kevin (Beth) Walsh of Fort Wayne; daughters, Kathleen (Melissa) Walsh of Madison, Wis., Ann Walsh of Indianapolis, Ind. and Patricia (Ron) West of Brownsburg, Ind.; brother, Bart Walsh of Delavan Wis.; and he was blessed by three grandchildren, Colin Walsh, Nora and Josephine Van Horn and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Marie, Margaret and Rita; and brothers, Andrew, Patrick, Peter, and Bernard. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Saint Anne Home Chapel, with calling one hour prior. Fr. John Overmyer officiating. Calling also from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m., at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Private burial in St. Andrews Cemetery, Delavan Wis.
