THOMAS KURUDA, 63, of Weslaco, Texas, passed away to join the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at his residence. Born Oct. 12, 1949, in Saginaw, Mich. He proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves and attended Indiana University-Purdue University. Up until his retirement, he devotedly worked at GTE (later Verizon) as an engineer for many years where his hard work and talent was recognized through numerous awards. Tom was a Harley - Davidson enthusiast who valued education and enjoyed a variety of hobbies ranging from collecting knives to designing houses to writing. He was a man who unconditionally loved, cared, and supported his daughter. Not only was he a dearly beloved father, but a greatly beloved brother, uncle and friend who will be missed immensely. He is survived by his daughter, Katlyn J. Kuruda of Weslaco; and brothers, August T. (Yevonne) Kuruda of Aurora, Ill. and Dennis M. (Paula Marie) Kuruda of Auburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, August M. and Clara (Ritter) Kuruda. Memorial service is 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at McCaleb Funeral Home, Weslaco. The Rev.
