VIRGIL J. FIEDLER, 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at Roper Hospital in Charleston, S.C. while on vacation. He was born on July 22, 1936 in Gar Creek, Ind. a son of the late William E. and Erna E. (Lange) Fiedler. He married Beverly Clark on April 13, 1957 in Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne. Virgil worked in construction for 25 years with Arnos & Fiedler Construction and then retired from DeKalb Eastern School Corporation after approximately 25 years as Maintenance Supervisor. He was an Army Veteran, a member of the Butler American Legion and Leo United Methodist Church where he also volunteered with the Church Food Bank for about six years. He loved the outdoors, playing with his pets especially his dog, Scooby Doo and doing wood working. Surviving are his wife of 56 1/2 years, Beverly Fiedler of Spencerville; son, Richard Fiedler of Spencerville; daughter, June Dold of Buffalo, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Christopher (Becca) Fiedler of Kendallville, Jessica Fiedler of Coldwater, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Canaan, Larealeigh, Natalee, and Jeremiah, Jr.; sister, Phyllis Laudahn of Auburn; brother-in-law, Larry Clark of Columbus, Ohio; two aunts, Shirley Rigor of Spencerville, Mary Rugg of Arizona; four nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, LaVerne Fiedler; and a nephew. A Celebration of Life Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at Leo United Methodist Church, 13527 Leo Rd., Leo, Ind., with calling one hour prior at the church. Pastor Ann Lantz officating. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at the church. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Ind.
