WILLIAM A. BRASE, 92, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born Aug. 5, 1920, he was a son of the late Clarence and Corrine Shondell Brase. William was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne. He was an active member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, The Fraternal Order of Elks, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign War. He retired from General Electric after 42 years of service. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, 45th Infantry Division. He enjoyed golf, fishing, travel, and spending time with children and grandchildren. He is survived by sons, John J. (Catherine) of Anderson, Ind. and Steven L. (Vicky) of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Joan Hayden of Fort Wayne; brothers, Thomas T. and Paul F. of Fort Wayne; sister, Harriet Ottenweller of Peoria, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Clark) Brase; brothers, John, Clarence, Robert, Richard, James, and Donald; and longtime companion, Carol Murphy. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Father Chris Smith officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
